Shared Values, Shared Success
A commitment to understanding how each business operates
Strong values, a trusted reputation, community involvement, and accountability create a foundation for success. We saw those strengths in Evolve Payment, a family-owned, Minnesota-based company, and partnered with its team in 2023 to bring payment services to our customers. The company recently earned recognition as the nation’s Top Payments company at the Payments Banking and Compliance Conference in Washington, D.C. The award reflects its commitment to the businesses it serves.
Solutions That Go Beyond Payment Processing
That commitment starts with understanding how each business operates. Merchant processing can be confusing and frustrating, but Evolve Payment helps businesses simplify more than payment acceptance.
“We don’t just look at the processing fees; we look at the accounts receivable process,” says Don Raleigh, VP of Partnerships & Sales at Evolve Payment.
Evolve Payment’s services integrate with financial management software to automate tasks and streamline operations. Rather than offering the same solution to every customer, the team works with business owners to understand their challenges and find an approach that fits.
For example, Raleigh worked with a business owner who lacked an inventory tracking system and relied on gut instinct to make purchasing decisions. Evolve Payment helped him implement a point-of-sale solution that allowed him to manage his entire business from his cell phone.
“Most of the time, our solutions usually save clients more than just money, it’s all about having a solution that enhances your process to maximize your Return on Time” Raleigh explains. “Our process is slow and steady; we don’t pressure clients just to close a deal.”
Building Relationships Through Trust
Taking time to understand a business does more than uncover opportunities for improvement, it builds trust. That matters in an industry where business owners may receive frequent calls promising lower fees, only to encounter disappointing customer service after signing a contract.
“We are intentional with our solutions, and we go into every meeting and treat the client or potential client with kindness and respect, no matter how big or small,” Raleigh says.
Evolve Payment’s goal is to meet business owners where they are and provide support that extends beyond the initial sale.
That focus on service also guides the company’s work with public institutions, where solutions must address both operational needs and compliance requirements.
“We introduced a compliant surcharging program to the Colorado Supreme Court; it successfully reduced their expense by 35% of their total budget cutting costs paid by taxpayers,” says Raleigh.
A Family Business That Remembers Its Roots
Behind Evolve Payment’s approach to customer relationships is a deep appreciation for its own beginnings. For Donald Raleigh II and his son, Don III, accepting the award in Washington, D.C., was a full-circle moment. Donald Sr. served in the military as a Russian linguist and Sentinel at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers, making the return to Washington an opportunity to reflect on where his career began and how far the family business has come.
From its beginnings in a family basement in 2002, Evolve Payment has grown into a nationally recognized company. Its success remains rooted in gratitude—for the opportunity to work together as a family, the relationships the team has built, and the communities it serves.
The recognition was more than a business milestone; it was a reminder of the values the family wants to carry forward. Working alongside other family-owned businesses makes that success especially meaningful, allowing the team to help others build something of their own while staying connected to its roots.
A Partner, Not Just a Vendor
Those same values shape Evolve Payment’s relationship with Coulee Bank. For its team, working with us feels like an extension of its own business, a collaborative relationship focused on helping our customers succeed.
Don Raleigh and Annie Bertram, AVP, Treasury Management, participate in team conversations that support that shared goal. Together, we view Evolve Payment’s services as another tool available to business owners, not a requirement, but an option when it makes sense for their needs.
That approach gives our customers access to solutions that can simplify operations and reduce costs, without pressure. For Evolve Payment, that’s what makes the relationship meaningful. They are a proud partner, not just a vendor, and share in the success of the businesses we serve.
If you're currently navigating ways to lower costs or enhance accounts receivables, we would be more than happy to introduce Don and the team at Evolve Payment.
