New Chief Financial Officer: Dan Peters
Strong leadership is at the heart of Coulee Bank and plays a key role in delivering the personalized service and financial stability our customers count on. We are pleased to introduce our new Chief Financial Officer, Dan Peters, who recently stepped into this important role after serving as the Bank’s Controller since 2021.
At one point, Peters believed serving as a Controller was the pinnacle of his career. With experience came a new perspective, and he realized he was ready for the next challenge, an opportunity to grow, lead, and make an even greater impact as Coulee Bank’s Chief Financial Officer. “I am most excited about working with our senior leadership team on strategic initiatives to help ensure the bank remains a place our customers are proud to bank with,” he says.
Dan brings 13 years of experience in banking and finance, including roles as Banking Auditor, Senior Financial/Credit Risk Analyst, Assistant Controller, and Controller. “This combination of experience is a great asset to Coulee Bank’s Senior Leadership Team,” says Dirk Gasterland, Chief Executive Officer of Coulee Bank.
In his new role, Peters helps ensure the Bank’s vision is both feasible and achievable. The CEO sets the direction, and the CFO helps chart the path forward. “I once heard this poignant quote about the role of the CFO: ‘The CEO is the painter; the CFO provides the brush to create the masterpiece,’” Peters reflects.
He spent part of his career at a larger financial institution. “It gives me great pride working at Coulee Bank, a smaller community bank, because we truly want to see our customers succeed versus another number on a spreadsheet,” he says. “I enjoy driving around the communities we serve and seeing our customers' work trucks, office buildings, etc., out in the community,” he continues.
Peters is confident his journey as a Controller has prepared him for the role of CFO. That experience allowed him to spend significant time “in the weeds” of the Bank’s financials, giving him a comprehensive understanding of how Coulee Bank allocates its resources. “Every dollar saved is a dollar we can allocate to our customers,” he explains.
Outside of work, Peters enjoys working on home improvement projects, spending time on the North Shore fishing, hiking, and riding the trails with his wife, Jasmine. But, if he isn’t up north, he jokes and says he also donates golf balls to local golf course ponds.
Dan, we are so grateful you chose to continue your career at Coulee Bank. We wish you much success and happiness.
