Dan Roberts: A Leader in Business Banking at Coulee Bank
Meet Dan Roberts, VP Business Banking Officer in Minnetonka. He is one of the trusted faces behind our business banking team at Coulee Bank. With a passion for helping local businesses thrive, Roberts brings expertise, insight, and dedication to every client relationship.
He has spent the last five years at Coulee Bank, as part of the team that opened the Minnetonka branch. He began his banking career working in the credit department and then transitioned into a business banker role. “I work directly with clients as a business banker, which allows me to help small business owners reach their dreams, and I really enjoy helping people,” he says.
Roberts says he gets to live vicariously through his clients, noting that entrepreneurs are great to work with. “They are a special group of people who are always positive, energetic, smart, and high achievers!” He exclaimed.
Most of the businesses he works with are operating companies that provide a product or service. While his primary role is to provide funding, he believes his extensive banking experience adds extra value, whether by making connections or sharing past experiences that can help them navigate their current circumstances. “The best advice I can give to my customers is to go all in,” he says. Owning and operating a business is difficult, and it takes time, dedication, and determination.
When asked about a notable moment in banking, he says one of the most memorable success stories involves a client referred to him by a co-worker. Her husband and a friend had developed software in their basement and needed a small business loan to get started. We were able to provide that funding, and over time, the business grew into a company valued at over $100 million. “Moments like these are a powerful reminder of what entrepreneurs can achieve, and I feel fortunate to work with so many inspiring business owners,” Roberts states.
With 42 years of banking experience, he enjoys sharing his knowledge with others. For nearly 20 years, he has been involved with the Minnesota Bankers Association, teaching an introductory banking course to newer bankers. “I also love working with kids and have taught basic personal finance skills through BestPrep,” he says.
One fun fact about Dan is his involvement in a community theatre production. He was in the musical, My Fair Lady. “It was truly a highlight of my life – What a blast!” He exclaims. However, it was a one and done. According to Roberts, theatre productions end up consuming all your spare time, and there are just too many other things to do!
